THE ROYAL WEDDINGS

Royal weddings have always been major head turning events, and they share as many similarities as differences. They are easily unforgettable in nature and created with extensive planning.

Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles

The July 1981 wedding was tagged as the 'wedding of the century' across the globe and across headlines everywhere. Hosting an audience of 750 million viewers worldwide, and over 600,000 lining the streets, believing the event was anything less than magnificent would be an understatement.

The wedding held three different choirs, three different orchestras, and an ensemble. Lady Diana's dress was impeccably suited to her sense of fashion, dawning 10,000 pearls over ivory silk taffeta. Most famous was her ring, now known as the ring her would have been daughter-in-law Kate Middleton was given as an engagement ring. It included 14 solitaire diamonds surrounding a 12-carat blue sapphire set, and was made of 18-karat white gold.

Ending the spectacular event with 27 wedding cakes and 120 guests at Buckingham Palace, nothing would quite compare to the beauty and attention the masterpiece of a wedding brought.

Kate Middleton and Prince William

Following in his mother's footsteps, Prince William made sure to catch the attention of the world when he wed Kate Middleton. The duo held their wedding in Westminster Abbey and of course their official wedding portrait was shot at Buckingham Palace. Once more the streets were lined with thousands of attentive admirers wishing to catch a single glimpse of the pair as they celebrate their beautiful day. Hosting an open carriage processional, the newlyweds stole the hearts as they waved and presented themselves to the public.

Much like Lady Diana, Kate turned heads for her fashionable taste dawning her beautiful Alexander McQueen wedding dress. Both Prince Harry and Prince William celebrated the day in Army uniforms, giving their audience a reminder of how formal and majestic the wedding was. As a play at continuing the tradition Prince William's parents started, the newlyweds kissed on the balcony for everyone to see.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

Breaking headlines everywhere, Prince Harry took a play from his mother's book and followed his heart. Marrying Meghan Markle, who wore a sleek yet modern gown, the prince was decked out in his Army uniform once again for the royal event. Like his brother had done so lovingly, Markle received ring from Princess Diana's personal collection when Prince Harry proposed.

Unlike tradition in royal weddings and taking a different step than his brother, Prince Harry chose to wear a wedding ring himself. Another difference was the duo's choice to wed at a chapel in Windsor Castle, making their party much smaller than any prior royal wedding.

One major difference is that this was by far the largest watched wedding worldwide, pulling in 1.9 billion viewers

KIM KARDASHIAN AND KANYE WEST

While Kim and Kanye are known for their ability to appear royal, the two made sure their wedding would be unforgettable. Hosting their fairy-tale ceremony in Italy and extending it to be a weekend event. Their wedding held around 600 friends and family members and even featured a beautiful performance by Lana Del Rey. Kim made sure to hold true to her fashionista style and wore custom Givenchy. Kanye was also decked out in custom Givenchy alongside daughter North West, giving a unique statement to them being a family.

The wedding may not have been quite as extensive as the royal weddings, but it made headlines everywhere. The couple that seemed like such an odd pairing had tied the knot.

VICTORIA ADAMS AND DAVID BECKHAM

Following in royal footsteps, Victoria Adams became a Bekcham at one of the most expensive weddings of all time. Spending a reported $800,000 on their wedding, the two went all out with thrones to sit in and cakes topped with nude figurines. Victoria even wore a tiara, much like the royal brides. They may not have held their ceremony at Buckingham Palace, but the couple's venue of choice was an actual castle!

The event took roughly 14 months to plan and like most major weddings Victoria wore a designer dress from Vera Wang. Supposedly, only 29 guests actually witnessed the two exchanging vows, making their wedding a sort of secret event. Once thing they did have in common with the royal weddings is having an orchestra to make the evening special.
